Ad Units: Positions

The Positions screen, found in the Ad Services section, allows you to manage instream ad positioning per playout. A position determines when an ad plays in relation to the video content: either before (pre-roll) or after (post-roll) the clip.

Before using Positions, you need at least one playout and one instream ad unit set up. To navigate here, go to Ad Services > Positions.

1.0 | Edit playout ads

The Positions list shows all your playouts. Use the filter presets at the top to narrow the list by With Ad Units or Without Ad Units. Click the edit button on the right of a playout to manage its ad positioning.

2.0 | Create and adjust ad positioning

The edit screen is divided into two sections: Pre-roll and Post-roll. Each section follows the same two-step structure:

2.1 | Assign an ad unit

Click Create to create a new ad unit directly, or use the search field to assign an existing one. The ad unit defines the position type and playback behaviour. Once assigned, a summary is shown with its enabled status and commercial behaviour setting.

2.2 | Add line items

Once an ad unit is assigned, a Line Items section appears below it. Click Create to add a new line item, or assign an existing one. Each line item holds the VAST URL and timeout value for that ad. A single ad unit can have multiple line items.

Enable or disable all ads on the playout by toggling the switch at the top of the page. When disabled, no ads will play on that playout even if ad units and line items are configured.
