Channel General Settings

This article will explain what general settings to use for your Channel:

  • Channel name (required)
The Channel name is merely used for content management purposes and will not be displayed in the actual Channel. Use a descriptive name that makes it easy to find the relevant Channel in the Channels overview.
  • Enable search
Toggle on to add a search bar to your Channel, making it easier for viewers to find specific content.
  • Stay within channel borders
When enabled, the detail page opens within the Channel’s container rather than covering the full browser window. This setting is unavailable when the detail page display mode is set to “Modal”.
  • Enable URL navigation
When enabled, the Channel supports URL-based navigation, allowing specific content to be loaded on page load via URL parameters. Enabled by default for new Channels.

1.0 | General styling

  • Color theme
Set a “Light” or “Dark” theme for your Channel. As you switch between the two color theme options, the font and background color settings below are updated to their default colors. We recommend using the color theme setting as a starting point, after which it’s easier to fine-tune the font and background settings.
  • Primary font
    The primary font applies to:

      • The Channel title
      • Element titles
      • Video titles
      • Video descriptions
    • Secondary font
      The secondary font applies to:

        • The overlay text placed on top of featured items and thumbnails of videos that are currently playing in the player block
        • The video length displayed in the thumbnails

    • Font family & Font color
Select a popular font from the dropdown menu:
      channels available fonts
Font color: select a color in the color picker or enter a HEX color code.

    • Background color
Select a Channel background preset (dark grey, light grey or white) or use the color picker to select another color or enter a HEX color code.
    • Border radius
Use the border radius to create square corners (0px) or rounded corners (values higher than 0px). See the three examples below with a respective border radius of 0px, 5px and 20px:

    • Show gradients
When enabled, gradient effects are applied across the Channel: a fade-out gradient on the edges of sliders and carousels, a dark gradient overlay on the lower portion of featured item thumbnails, and a gradient mask on the featured header.
    • Channel Padding
Use the Channel padding property to determine the padding area on the Channel’s outer left and right side. Set the padding to 0px if you want the Channel to fill up the full width of the element it’s placed in. Note that the padding setting does not affect the space between Channel elements.
    • Maximum width
Enter a value to set a maximum width (for example 1100px). The Channel interface will scale along with the width of its container on the page until it hits the maximum width. Leave this setting blank to disable.

    2.0 | Button styling

    • Border radius
Set the border radius for all buttons in the Channel. Use 0px for square corners or a higher value for rounded corners.
    • Default state
Configure the appearance of buttons in their resting state:

      • Style:
        • Solid (filled background)
        • Outlined (transparent background with a border).
      • Outline width: set the border thickness in pixels. Only shown when Style is set to Outlined.
      • Font color: set the text color of the button.
      • Button color: in Solid mode, this sets the fill color. In Outlined mode, this sets the border color.
    • Hover state
Configure the appearance of buttons when a viewer hovers over them. The same options are available as in the Default state, and each can be set independently.

    3.0 | Player options

    • Playout
Select the playout used for the Channel. This playout will be used in all instances where the Channel displays a player. Learn more about playouts. If no playout is specified, the default playout will be selected.
    • Play content in
When visitors select another video in the Channel, the video can be presented in one of four ways: in the video player, via a deep link, on a detail page, or on an overview page. The setting selected here will be applied to each element by default, but it is also possible to select a different presentation for individual elements. The available options are:

      • Video Player: the selected video will play in the video player element that is set up in the Channel.
      • Deep link: instead of opening the video in a player within the Channel, you can also use the deep link. A deep link can be any URL that you would like viewers to visit as they click the thumbnail in the slider, carousel or grid.
      • Detail page: a detail page opens a player covering the full browser window along with the video title and description. The background is filled with a blurred thumbnail.
      • Overview page: opens a browseable overview of the sub-playlists within a playlist collection. This option is only relevant when using playlist collections.

    4.0 | Preview options

Use the preview options to control how video titles, durations and custom fields are displayed on thumbnails across the Channel. The settings here act as channel-wide defaults; individual playlist and player blocks can override them.

    • Title display
Controls the position of the video title on each thumbnail:

      • Below thumbnail: the title appears beneath the thumbnail image.
      • Bottom: the title is displayed as an overlay in the bottom-left corner of the thumbnail.
      • Hide: the title is not shown.

    • Timestamp display
Controls the position of the video duration on each thumbnail:

      • Bottom left / Bottom right / Top left / Top right: the duration is displayed as an overlay in the selected corner of the thumbnail.
      • Hide: the duration is not shown.

    5.0 | Content Protection

Apply a Content Protection Policy to restrict access to your Channel. When a policy is active, visitors who do not meet the policy’s conditions will be prompted to authenticate before the Channel content is shown.

Select a Content Protection Policy from the dropdown to link it to your Channel.
