Contact options

You can watch our tutorial video on adding contact options here, or simply read the article below.

In this article you will learn how to add contact options to your interactive video. This will enable viewers to easily reach out to you by:

  • Email
  • Phone; or
  • Navigating to a contact page.

1.0 | Open a new email

Add a button in your video to let viewers open a new email in their browser or email software. To do this:

  • Open the video in the Interactive Studio
  • Upload a new button image in the Media Library panel or search for an existing image
  • Drag the file to the canvas

  • Expand the OnClick action settings in the right panel

  • Select the “Navigate to webpage” option and click the ‘chain link’ icon.
  • Usually this text field is used to insert a URL for a website. However, it’s also use it to enter a ‘mailto’ link (mailto:email@example.com)
  • Leave the target to “_blank” so that the email message opens in a separate browser tab.

Add extra recipients or body text

Mailto links are used to redirect the user to an email address rather than a web page. When a viewer clicks on a button with the Mailto link, the default email client on the viewer’s device opens and suggests sending a message to the email address mentioned in the Mailto link. Read more about how to add extra recipients or add a specific body text.

2.0 | Initiate a phone call

Similar to creating a new email for your viewers, you can add an option for viewers to initiate a phone call by clicking a button.

  • Open the video in the Interactive Studio
  • Upload a new button image in the Media Library panel or search for an existing image
  • Drag the file to the canvas

  • Expand the OnClick action settings

  • In the URL field enter a “tel:” link with a phone number.

Note:

Different browsers and devices handle the phone call trigger differently. Phone devices will simply open up the actual phone application, but clicking the  button on a desktop will typically trigger a pop up window asking the viewer to use a different application such as Facetime or Skype:

The third option for viewers to get in touch is by directing them to a contact page on your website when they click a button. To do this:

  • Open the video in the Interactive Studio
  • Upload a new button image in the Media Library panel or search for an existing image
  • Drag the file to the canvas

Interactive Studio drag to canvas

  • Expand the OnClick action settings in the right panel

  • Select the “Navigate to webpage” option and click the ‘chain link’ icon to add the URL of your contact page.

Tip

In most cases it’s recommended to leave the target to “_blank” so that the website will open in a separate browser tab. Select “_self” to open the website in the same browser tab.
