We’re pleased to release the 8.40 version of the Blue Billywig Online Video Platform.

Bulk metadata management

With great pride we release the option to manage your data in bulk to all admin users in the OVP.

You can now download all; or a subset of your metadata in either XLS or JSON format. Filter on the content you want by using filter sets and select the fields to include in the export by using the intuitive UI.

After updating your downloaded file, you can simply upload the file back to the OVP to apply the changes made locally. Our interface will show the fields that will be changed by your upload to ensure only the correct fields are being updated. 

  • Date (custom) fields can now be configured to also set a time.
  • Updated the Content Protection Policies pages to better reflect the rights a user has.
  • When setting a Content Protection policy as a publication default, we now first show a warning.
  • Admin users can now update the default publication language in the publication settings.
  • We now set the publication default language as the default language for RSS feeds when no language is defined by the user.
  • Updated our player to understand and play the full playlist Collection context.
  • Implemented multiple smaller design tweaks to reports.
  • Phased out EVAL in a wide range of OVP features.
  • Implemented minor security improvements to further strengthen the protections in place in our product.
  • Improved the way we handle the deeplink when used as the CTA in Shorts.
  • Improved the way we handle logging out for SSO users.
  • Improved the quality of thumbnails in the Shorts Shelf for screens with high(er) pixel density.
  • Improved the thumbnails on the Overview pages in Channels.
  • Added VAST service and Ad break/item breakdown information to the Ad services reports.
  • Fixed an issue with displaying form fields with buttons next to them.
  • Fixed an issue with channel preview not always updating correctly.
  • Fixed an issue with certain icons not showing in the Studio.
  • Fixed an issue with player errors logging too often.
  • Fixed an issue with the channels application not handling sharing parameters correctly.
  • Fixed an issue with channel thumbnails sometimes not showing in the correct aspect ratio.
  • Fixed an issue with the bottom gradient showing when not required in the Shorts Shelf.

SDK

  • Fixed an issue with going fullscreen from within the video list in our Android demo app.
  • Fixed an issue with Chromecast sessions preventing thumbnails from loading while active.
