Release 8.13 11/11/2024

We’re pleased to release the 8.13 version of the Blue Billywig Online Video Platform.

Call to action for Shorts

You can now add a call to action to your Shorts that allows you to link a Short to a related news article, the full version of the video or another related page on your website.

When configured, a call to action button with a customizable label will be shown within the Shorts player. Upon clicking the button, the viewer will be redirected to the configured URL.

You can enable this from the Player tab of the Shorts settings where you can also configure how and where the call to action button should be shown within the player.

Keep track of viewed Shorts

Your visitors will be more likely to engage with your Shorts content when you present them with new relevant content whenever they visit your website or application.

Therefore, we now offer the option to keep track of the Shorts viewed by a visitor, and adjust the Shorts shelf based on this information. You can decide whether you’d want to move the Shorts to the back of the shelf after the visitor viewed them, or to keep them in their place, but simply mark them as viewed. Not doing anything with this information is always possible too if that is what you want.

You can configure the desired behavior from the Playlist tab of the Shorts settings.
